Ensuring your dog is happy depends on how healthy she is throughout her life. Diseases such as rabies, parvo virus, distemper and canine hepatitis can cause serious health risks to your beloved pet. Vaccines prepare your pet’s immune system to combat the invasions of viruses. Core vaccines are widely considered as important to all pets due to the level of exposure, communicability to humans, and the seriousness of each disease.
Rabies is one of the few viral diseases that can be transmitted from animals to humans. It is transferred through a bite from an infected animal. If symptoms begin to show, it becomes a fatal disease. The rabies shot is required by law to prevent an outbreak.
Unlike rabies, the parvovirus cannot be transferred from pets to humans. It is, however, another fatal disease that is extremely contagious through the feces of an infected dog. A combination vaccine is usually given to puppies at 12 and 15 weeks.
Considered as another greatly contagious virus, the canine distemper spreads through the air and attacks the lymph nodes and tonsils. You should get your dog vaccinated at 6, 9, 12 and 15 weeks. After the vaccines is given, booster shots should be administered at 12 months and every year after.
